What the Health: When Advocacy Goes Wrong

by Dr. Nina Cherie Franklin @ Dr. Nina Cherie Franklin

I’ve received dozens of emails asking me to review What the Health, a follow-up food documentary from the creators of Cowspiracy, which is currently available on Netflix. I honestly didn’t want to watch it. From the teaser trailers and social media discussions alone, I could have predicted what it would be about. Nevertheless, after multiple weeks of foot-dragging, I went ahead and charged up my iPad and carved out some 90 minutes for an active viewing session on my elliptical trainer. After having watched the film, I can see why so many people are getting drawn in. What the Health takes viewers on an existential journey of emotions ranging from anger, panic, shame, anxiety, and guilt. Filmmaker Kip Anderson vividly brings to life some real social and ethical problems and issues facing America, one of the most obvious being the food industry’s utter influence on nutrition-related research and federal dietary guidelines. As a ‘rogue’ scientist and health expert, I regularly blog about this issue. There undoubtedly exists a great deal of selective funding and publication of research that directly supports the ever-growing fiscal agendas of Big Farm, Big Food, and Big Pharma. It’s no wonder they continue to thrive and […]

Understanding the Very Basics of a Good Skincare Routine

by Dr. Nina Cherie Franklin @ Dr. Nina Cherie Franklin

Pimples, blemishes, and acne are common skin problems that span far beyond puberty and the teen years. I’ve personally suffered with quite a bit of acne as an adult, most of which began when I started getting ‘professional’ facials and experimenting with a lot of high-end skincare products. Back in 2006, I experienced one of the worst acne breakouts ever. At this point, I decided to consult with one of Chicago’s best dermatologists. I’m so glad I did! During my visit, he recommended a simple regimen that took me from severe acne flare-ups to clear skin in a matter of weeks. And, for over a decade, he’s continued to equip me with an ever-growing list of practical tips, tricks, and techniques that have allowed me to keep my acne at bay. I’m excited to share some of them with you! First, let me be clear, these are my own personal beauty hacks enhanced with research in experimental dermatology, so they might not work for everyone. But, if you’re looking to maintain healthy, soft and clear skin, without necessarily breaking the bank, this is definitely worth a read. SKIN FOOD CHOCO EYEBROW POWDER CAKE – GREY BROWN

by giacintarisca @ Giacinta Risca

Hello, guys ! So, in this post I…..have another eyebrow product that i wanna share with you guys. lol This time, i wanna give you guys a review about eyebrow powder, and what i tried was from the Skin Food one. – Packaging and Product Details – I kinda love the packaging, which is small and thin. It doesn’t need much space on your make up pouch. – What’s inside – It comes with mirror and brush! OMG, Super love ♥ It has two different colours to make your perfect eyebrow. And also i heard that it contains real cocoa in the formula. It smells like cocoa, but doesn’t taste like cocoa. lol – Swatches on my hand – – What it looks like on my eyebrow – The brow powder gives  you natural looks. Its not that pigmented when i swatched it on my hand, so you must take a few step to make it pop up on your eyebrow. Am i that impressed with this product? Not really. BUT, it’s good for daily use, for a natural look eyebrow. And when you’re in a rush. 🙂 So, that’s the end of this review. Hope you guys enjoy it and […]

Be Responsible: An Argument for Self-Care

by Dr. Nina Cherie Franklin @ Dr. Nina Cherie Franklin

I’ve never been shy about voicing my opinions about conventional healthcare, especially when it comes to shortcomings in preventive care quality. If you aren’t familiar with the term, “preventive care” essentially refers to any form of healthcare specifically aimed at ‘preventing’ chronic diseases and serious illnesses. Routine physicals, immunizations, health screenings, and general wellness counseling, each constitute preventive care—And, each has its own unique place in healthcare. But, there’s one component of prevention that’s frequently overlooked yet it’s arguably the most important: The practice of self-care. Believe it or not, 40-50% of your lifetime health status is dictated by the extent to which you engage in self-care practices. Practicing self-care involves things like eating well, exercising regularly, refraining from smoking, prioritizing sleep, keeping stress levels at bay, and adhering to medication usage, if necessary. Obviously, all these things necessitate personal or individual responsibility. However, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention that there’s also a level of responsibility that lies in the hands of the healthcare system. For healthcare providers, this involves getting to know the person behind the patient and offering up self-care strategies appropriately tailored to their individual needs, preferences, and values. I would like to share with […]

Kathy Griffin Files for Restraining Order Against Neighbor After Verbal Altercation with the KB Home CEO

Kathy Griffin Files for Restraining Order Against Neighbor After Verbal Altercation with the KB Home CEO

by Christina Dugan @ PEOPLE.com

Kathy Griffin has filed for a restraining order against her neighbor, KB Home CEO Jeffrey Mezger, following a verbal altercation that occurred over the weekend.

According to The Blast, the 56-year-old comedian filed the request against Mezger and his wife, Sandra, in Los Angeles County Court on Thursday.

On Tuesday, Huffington Post released audio of the reported incident — which was taken from security footage — that happened on Saturday, in which Mezger allegedly verbally attacks Griffin and her boyfriend, Randy Bick, after the couple had made a complaint to the Los Angeles Police Department about the noise coming from Mezger’s home.

In the explicit audio, Mezger can be heard screaming profanities, calling Griffin a “f—– bald d–e “whom President Donald Trump “kind of put the heat on.” (Griffin shaved her head over the summer in support for her sister, Joyce, who was battling cancer. Joyce Griffin died last week.)

Mezger continued his rant by saying, “Let’s declare war, a—–e, ’cause we got a lot to go for. Let’s bring it on, you b—-.’ ” He also referred to Griffin as a “f—— c—.”

Bick told HuffPost that he called in a complaint to the LAPD late Saturday after “hours” of excessive noise at Mezger’s residence.

“Mr. Mezger regrets losing his temper over a supposed noise complaint involving his three young grandchildren in his swimming pool around 8 p.m. on Saturday, while they were being supervised by their mother and grandmother,” a KB Home spokesperson told the outlet in a statement. “He apologizes for the language he used, as it does not reflect who he is or what he believes.”

KB Home is the sixth largest publicly traded company and is known for its energy and water efficient homebuilding. Mezger has been with the company since 1993. According to The Wall Street Journal, KB Home said it will cut Mezger’s annual bonus by 25 percent following the surfaced recording.

In May, Griffin sparked nationwide outrage after posing with a replica of President Donald Trump‘s bloodied, decapitated head in her hand — a career move that changed her life.

“I’m a comic. I crossed the line, I moved the line and then I crossed the line,” she said in a video posted on Twitter. “I went way too far. The image is too disturbing. I understand how it offends people, it wasn’t funny.”

A rep for Griffin did not respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

elf Holy Smokes Palette Review

by Britta Garsow @ Twinspiration

We love finding good drugstore eyeshadow palettes, but it is no easy task. More often than not they just feel chalky and look patchy on the skin. A few solid options that come to find are the Milani Palettes or the CoverGirl TruNaked palettes. Those are all excellent options if you’re looking to save some money. As are the elf Mad for Matte palettes. The first one garnished a cult following of sorts and Carli and I never fully jumped on the bandwagon. The quality of the shadows is good but the palette itself is a little boring in our opinion. Then elf released the Mad for Matte 2 palette filled with beautiful warm tones. We love this one! But we were the MOST excited for their newly released Holy Smokes palette. It’s filled with amazing jewel tones! Watch our review of all three below, and we’re showing you swatches of all three! xx, Britta

by Dr. Nina Cherie Franklin @ Dr. Nina Cherie Franklin

I’ve always been a fan of tacos. From soft to hard shell, traditional to creative, meat-filled to meatless, I’ve tried just about every type of taco there is. Authentic “street tacos” are my personal favorite, though you generally won’t find them on a list of healthy food choices. But, believe it or not, when prepared with high-quality ingredients, you can enjoy the rich taste of street tacos without all the guilt. Here’s one of my latest recipes for ‘Chicken and Kale Street-Style Tacos’ that’s incredibly wholesome and amazingly delicious. What You Need Taco Seasonings and Preparation 2 boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized cubes* 4 tablespoons of olive oil 4 cloves of garlic, minced 4 cups of kale, thinly sliced 1 can of reduced sodium black beans 1 medium white onion, chopped 3 tablespoons of chili powder 1-1/2 teaspoon of paprika 1 teaspoon of oregano 1 teaspoon of sea salt, or to taste 1/2 teaspoon of freshly ground pepper, or to taste 1/2 teaspoon of ground cumin 1/2 teaspoon of coriander seed 1-2 pinches of red pepper flakes, or to taste *The chicken can easily be replaced with beef or bison. Hi Amy! I cannot tell you how brilliant your holiday gift guides are. I've already crossed my mom and three cousins (two teenagers and one almost-1-year-old) off my list. In November! I'm pretty sure it's a Christmas miracle. More importantly, I've found something awesome for my own wishlist, namely the Philosophy Makeup Optional gift set. I'm 23, and the acne that started in high school is just now abating. I stopped wearing makeup about a year ago, before my wedding, so I wouldn't have to worry about covering as many blemishes on the big day, and my skin improved. There are still some red marks from previous acne and the occasional blemish (*cough* PMS *cough*), but I think I'm better off with a bare face than wearing heavy makeup to cover the blemishes caused by the makeup. Right now I wash my face with Neutrogena Acne Wash in the shower when I think of it (2-3 times a week, I would guess), and put cleocin gel on any blemishes or blemishes in the making. So, umm, not the best

Hello, guys ! So, in this post i will share about my daily skin care routine, day and night time. Usually, i don’t take any skin care products to my skin, because i was too lazy to do it. lol. But, because i got my face allergic from my last holiday to USA, i started to care to my skin (especially to my face) more and searched for some products to heal my allergic. Then i found my hero……. “Neutrogena” lol  – My Neutrogena Products – – Neutrogena Naturals – This products is a cream moisturiser that i really love the smell. It contains natural formula that can be use by all of skin type and won’t cause allergic. I bought this when i was still in USA and it costs about $13-17 before tax (i forgot the exact price). What i love from this products are it’s smell, it gives moisture to my skin and makes my skin look healthier. love love love ♥ – Neutrogena Acne Stress Control – This product is a triple action tone that you should use before your moisturiser. It helps you to treat your acne, eliminates oil and refreshes your face. I also like …

Crazy In Love! Beyoncé and JAY-Z Share PDA-Filled Date Aboard Yacht on Date Night

Crazy In Love! Beyoncé and JAY-Z Share PDA-Filled Date Aboard Yacht on Date Night

by Alexia Fernandez @ PEOPLE.com

No one is crying over split lemonade as Beyoncé and JAY-Z are more in love than ever.

The superstar couple shared some PDA aboard a yacht and shared their loved-up snaps on Beyonce’s website on Thursday.

The two looked relaxed as they shared a kiss, with the “Empire State of Mind” rapper holding a cigar in one hand with his other arm wrapped around his wife’s shoulders.

The “Formation” singer, 36, wore a black and white pinstriped top with ruffles along the v-neck, as well as jean shorts and cat-eye black and white sunglasses.

She posed in another photo, reclining in her seat while looking at the camera and accentuating her cleavage-baring top.

The singer has been sharing more of her life with fans since welcoming her twins, Rumi and Sir, in June. She and JAY-Z, 47, also share big sister, 5-year-old Blue Ivy.

On Monday night, Queen Bey flaunted her post-pregnancy curves in a series of Instagram photos, posing in skin-tight hot-pink Balenciaga pants and a floral pussy-bow top from the same brand.

The couple recently stepped out for Rihanna’s Diamond Ball in mid-September — their first official return to the spotlight since the birth of their twins.

Beyoncé wore a draped dark teal gown with plunging neckline and thigh-high slit that looked way more expensive than it is. The House of CB maxi dress clocks in at just $165, and is still available to buy now (just in time for fall wedding season!).

Beyoncé and Blue, along with mother Tina Knowles Lawson, were recently spotted in Houston, serving meals to 400 Hurricane Harvey survivors.

Date to the movies

by Tieka Ellis @ Selective Potential

Happy Tuesday! We're almost halfway through the week! Let's back up to the weekend though, where we had ZERO plans. Such a rarity! It was great to be able to decide what we wanted to do for a change! We ended up grabbing dinner at a mini food truck rally and having a bon fire at a friend's house on Friday. Saturday, I had a morning workout session, and we decided to do a little shopping, go out to dinner, and see a movie. I love those simple days so much! Sunday was another morning workout session, brunch, grocery shopping, and getting caught up on some things around the apartment. I feel like I'm in a good, healthy routine right now, which is so strange for summer, because usually summer is a complete whirlwind. So all good things over here! Autoimmune diseases and fillers – are they safe? Can food help to avoid flare ups?

GRWM: Baked Browns Palette Tutorial

by Britta Garsow @ Twinspiration

I used to absolutely love shimmer eyeshadows and therefore used them often (read: every day). But as I’ve gotten older and more into makeup I truly appreciate good matte eyeshadows and I often do all matte eyeshadow looks more often than not. So obviously that means I gravitate towards all matte palettes and when I saw the Dose of Colors Baked Browns Palette I knew it had to be mine. Not to mention it’s talc free and since I’ve developed my talc allergy I’ve been using this non-stop! It’s full of bold, warm brown tones that look amazing on any skin tone and with any eye color. These shadows are so pigmented and blend like a dream. I honestly can’t wait for them to release more palettes! This tutorial is on my go-to eye look. Not specifically an “every day” look since to me it’s a bit smokey and dramatic. But it’s the look I always create for date night or just anytime I go out really. I hope you enjoy it! xx, Britta

REVIEW TIME !! – MAYBELLINE FIT ME FOUNDATION

by giacintarisca @ Giacinta Risca

Hello, guys ! So, in this post i will review and give some honest thoughts about Maybelline Fit Me Foundation in Dewy Smooth 120 Classic Ivory. – The Packaging – Maybelline Fit Me Foundation packaging is made from glass, so it’s a bit heavy and it’s rectangle form made it a bit bulky, especially when you have some make up on your pouch. But yeaaa, i don’t really like that it doesn’t have pump in it. – Swatches on My Hand – As you can see, the formula and the texture doesn’t thick, so you won’t feel heavy on your face when applying this. It has SPF 18 formula, not a formula that will really protect your face from sunlight I think, especially when summer time. – Bare Face :p – – After a Layer of Maybelline Fit Me – You can see that this foundation has a medium coverage. It doesn’t make my face looks flawless, but I think it has done enough for a drug store foundation and I love how it feels on my face ♥ It doesn’t feel heavy at all. – And I’m Ready to Go 😛 – *for the lipstick I’m wearing you can see […]

Beaver Island Travel Guide

by Tieka Ellis @ Selective Potential

As promised, here is my full "little" travel guide to Beaver Island! We're definitely not pros of the island, but just thought I'd share where we stayed, what we ate, and what we did on the island. To be honest, this wasn't my favorite Michigan excursion we've been on. There wasn't a whole lot to do on the island... which is great if you're looking to relax and take it easy! Typically we like to have fun things to do and see when we travel (especially around Michigan), so thankfully the lighthouses took up a bit of our time. But if we didn't have the lighthouses to see, I'm not sure what else we would have done other than ride bikes, or visit the little beach, or eat/drink. But! We still enjoyed our weekend, and here are the highlights of our trip! Beaver Island Head Light

Beaver Island Head Light

by Tieka Ellis @ Selective Potential

Onto day two of our trip to Beaver Island! The second day, we knew we'd be making a huge trip to the Beaver Island Head Lighthouse on the south end of the island. Since we didn't bring our car on the ferry, we'd be making the trek by bicycle! It was a 30-mile round trip ride. Oof! But we made it, and honestly, it was one of my favorite experiences of the entire trip. Challenging, but so fun. One of my very favorite things about seeing all of the lighthouses in Michigan is the adventure to get to them. We've walked miles, have traveled by boat, biked several miles, and will someday have to travel by airplane. It's such a fun and exciting adventure every single time. Protein-Rich Tacos with a Homemade Seasoning Mix

by Dr. Nina Cherie Franklin @ Dr. Nina Cherie Franklin

I’m an absolute and all-around fan of tacos. From soft to hard shell, traditional to creative, meat-filled to meatless, I’ve tried just about every type of taco there is. In my home, we have “taco night” once or twice a month during which time I lay out a variety of festive fillings to enhance the overall experience. Since weight management and disease prevention are top priorities on my end, I take special care in preparing my taco blends for these occasional nights. This holds especially true when it comes to the taco seasonings I use, as those store-bought packets tend to be very high in sodium. I also choose my toppings wisely in order to ensure that each has the highest nutritional value possible. While this might sound a bit boring, I guarantee you’ll love my healthy spin on taco night. So, if you’re open to trying something new, here’s my deliciously wholesome recipe for “Protein-Rich Tacos with a Homemade Seasoning Mix”. What You Need Taco Seasoning and Meat Preparation 1 pound of extra lean ground turkey, chicken, beef or bison 1 medium to large white onion, chopped 3/4 to 1 cup of water 4 teaspoons of hot chili powder […]

IKEA Hack: Makeup Storage Chest

by Britta Garsow @ Twinspiration

As much as we love makeup and skincare, DIY posts will always hold a special place in our heart. When we first started blogging we got the most excited about thinking of new DIY projects we could share with all of you. As Pinterest gained popularity it became increasingly harder to come up with new and creative projects. Because of this we often gravitate towards IKEA Hacks. To this day our Gold & Marble Bar Cart hack is still our most popular post, and for good reason! We love finding an inexpensive piece, that’s actually accessible, and turning it into something chicer and custom. For this post, we decided to combine our love of DIY projects and makeup. You’ll often find us rummaging through Pinterest searching for new and inventive ways to store our makeup. Of course we have our ALEX Drawers but organizing our everyday projects takes more thought. Awhile ago we did a Makeup Organization Hacks video on YouTube. And while we still love these ideas, our collection has gotten so out of control that we knew we needed something more substantial. Gravitating Towards Gray

by Britta Garsow @ Twinspiration

There is definitely no shortage of neutral tones on this blog. Carli and I both like to stick to wearing black, black, and more black with some gray and white mixed in. During the summer time we definitely try to wear some fun floral patterns to mix things up, but now that fall is almost here (yay!!) we’re back to our usual palette. One of my favorite things about the color gray is that it contains so many different shades, tones, and often textures. I have so many chunky gray sweaters it’s actually ridiculous. But for this outfit, I decided to mix a deep gray bodysuit with a light gray moto jacket. The bodysuit has some ribbing which adds a nice contrast against the faux velvet jacket. I love playing with different textures! I feel like it adds depth and luxury to any outfit. Also, speaking of bodysuits. They’re my new favorite thing. I was always scared of wearing them because I assumed they were extremely uncomfortable and unforgiving. But since basically, all my pants (and bottoms for that matter) are high waisted I decided to give them a shot, since they’re so trendy. And I’m so glad I did! […]

Top Down or Bottom Up: Things to Consider Before Getting a Colonic

by Dr. Nina Cherie Franklin @ Dr. Nina Cherie Franklin

As a scientist and health expert, I’m often asked about the benefits of regular “colon cleansing” for detoxification and general health purposes. Colon cleansing is basically an umbrella term that encompasses a number of different procedures designed to clear the large intestine (bowel) of fecal matter. Interestingly enough, colon cleansing is one of those old trends that tends to resurface whenever a celebrity endorses some new method. One method that’s become widely popular these days is “colonic hydrotherapy”. Related Article: How the hCG Diet Exploits the “Placebo” Effect Also known as colonic irrigation or simply a “colonic”, this form of colon cleansing essentially involves repeated infusions of warm pressurized water (as much as 8-16 gallons) through the rectum and into the colon by way of specialized equipment. In addition to water, herbs, probiotics, coffee or other supplements may also be infused. Colonics are generally performed by a colonic hydrotherapist or “colonic hygienist”. The treatments themselves take about 30–45 minutes and are claimed to support weight loss, reduce inflammation, improve circulation, and boost immune function when undergone regularly. Although there’s a lack of empirical evidence supporting the overall effectiveness of colonic hydrotherapy, many natural health enthusiasts swear by it and are more than […]

The Skinny on Being Fat

by Dr. Nina Cherie Franklin @ Dr. Nina Cherie Franklin

Think having a “normal” body weight equates to being healthy? If your answer is yes, you’re sadly mistaken. Unfortunately, when it comes to measuring health, many rely solely on the scale. While the scale reading generally provides a quick glimpse into your risk for obesity, your body weight alone is a very poor measure of your health status – and oftentimes, even your level of “fatness”. Unbeknownst to many, excess body fat is what puts you at increased risk for chronic conditions like heart disease, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, and many forms of cancer. This holds true whether your body weight is classified as “normal” or “obese”, especially if you tend to carry fat around your midsection (apple shape). Related Article: What It Means to Have an Apple-Shaped Body But, before I give you the full skinny on being fat, let me tell you a little bit about body weight in general. Body weight is comprised of fat and lean mass components including muscle, bone, and fluids like blood and water. Together, these make up your body composition. An ideal body composition is one that encompasses a low fat-to-lean mass ratio relative to overall body weight. REVIEW TIME! – CETAPHIL GENTLE SKIN CLEANSER

by giacintarisca @ Giacinta Risca

Hello, guys! First of all, sorry for long time no post. I’ve been busy lately and couldn’t get my self to post. *sad* So, in this post i will write a review about my new facial cleanser that i’ve been dyin’ to have. lol – The Packaging – I bought it at Guardian and since it’s not “cheap”, i just try the smallest one to see how it works. – What it looks like – I found that it is really light formula, without scrub and looks like a body soap. Isn’t it? 🙂 Since the formula is very light and non perfume, i think that this cleanser is suitable for all skin. – With my make up on – – When applying the cleanser – I was surprise that it didn’t irritate my eyes at all even i was using my contact lens at the moment. Beaver Island Harbor Light

by Tieka Ellis @ Selective Potential

Hi friends! We're back from our long weekend on Beaver Island, and I'm so excited to (finally) have a few posts ready to publish! Summer has been SO busy... and along with me not feeling great (headaches, still!), I just haven't had the motivation to work an eight-hour day at my career, and then come home, sit on the computer, edit photos and blog all night. It's been a balance I haven't been able to achieve yet, but I'm working on it! So let's kick off with our first day on Beaver Island! I've been looking forward to this trip for a while, and I was so excited to see both of the lighthouses on the island. First up, we saw the Beaver Island Harbor Light! Non-surgical solutions for droopy eyelids, bags, and other lower eye problems: Part 2

by Brandith Irwin @ Skintour

To the reader above, it really matters which exact filler was used, can you find that out and then write to me again? On a broader note, lower eyelids are trickier for even a good surgeon than upper eyelids. The patient satisfaction rate with lower eyelid surgery is less than that for upper eyelid surgery. Why? […]

August Favorites 2017

by Britta Garsow @ Twinspiration

You guys. Not to toot our own horn but we think we have some solid favorites this month. We had so much going on this summer that we didn’t have the opportunity to try a lot of new products until things slowed down in August. So we went on a bit of a makeup/skincare binge and what emerged are the favorites we’re talking about today! We actually found an amazing natural deodorant and our FAVORITE drugstore lip liner this month. Let us know what products you’ve been coveting! We love recommendations! xx, Britta

Chrissy Teigen Reveals Kermit the Frog Is the Tattoo She ‘Thankfully Never Got’ — and the Muppet ‘Low Key Disses’ Her

Chrissy Teigen Reveals Kermit the Frog Is the Tattoo She ‘Thankfully Never Got’ — and the Muppet ‘Low Key Disses’ Her

by Karen Mizoguchi @ PEOPLE.com

Chrissy Teigen was such a fan of Kermit the Frog when she was younger that she would’ve permanently immortalized the Muppets character on her body.

The model and cookbook author, 31, posed a question about tattoos to her 7.5 million fans and followers on Twitter Wednesday, revealing that she “thankfully” never went through with a Kermit body ink.

“What is a tattoo you wanted when you were younger but, thankfully, never got? mine is kermit,” Teigen tweeted.

The outspoken social media star received many submissions and later shared that singer Eve’s infamous paw prints on her chest tattoos also once crossed her mind.

In between answering fans and asking Twitter to help her find six brown bananas to make banana bread, the wife of John Legend was surprised with a response from the one and only Kermit.

Kermit wrote back: “Whew! Glad to hear it. Now I don’t feel so bad about not getting that @chrissyteigen tattoo.”

And Teigen couldn’t believe Kermit’s subtle shade.

“I think kermit just low key dissed me I love him even more now,” the mother of one retweeted.

The Real Nitty-Gritty on Whole Grain Foods

by Dr. Nina Cherie Franklin @ Dr. Nina Cherie Franklin

With the widespread popularity of low-carb diets, a lot of high-quality foods have been unfairly demonized. This holds especially true for whole grain foods. Don’t be misled by all the hype, as whole grains are rich in quite a lot of nutrients. Whether you choose quinoa or brown rice, oatmeal or whole wheat breads, they’re all packed full of dietary fiber and supply your body with much-needed protein and essential micronutrients. Still, I’ll be the first to admit there’s a lot of confusion surrounding whole grain foods, much of which is driven by consumer misinformation and misleading marketing tactics. Related Article: Seven Food Labeling Tactics That Are Making People Sick Mainstream health experts swear that whole grains are the hidden cause of your being sick and fat, oftentimes using scare tactics in an effort to sell their books and supplements. Meanwhile, food companies continue to slap whole grain-centric logos and slogans on their nutritionally subpar products in order to influence your buying decisions in their favor. To play it safe, you jump on the “gluten-free” bandwagon, only to realize you’ve actually chosen whole grain substitutes that are relatively higher in added sugars, unhealthy fats, and sodium. Can fillers get rid of jowls? How to fix mild, moderate and severe jowls

First, I would really consider changing to an injectables experienced dermatologist. Here’s why.  Plastic surgeons are trained to do surgery and most of them love surgery. 10 Best Beauty Oils

by Britta Garsow @ Twinspiration

It’s no secret how much we love makeup but you probably didn’t know that we love skin care JUST AS MUCH. So basically we have a full blown obsession with Sephora, but who doesn’t? We still remember the first skincare product our mom ever bought us, the Olay Beauty Fluid. Even as young girls we enjoyed our simple skincare routine and taking care of our skin. But it wasn’t until we actually saw signs of aging that we really dove into learning about active ingredients and which ones would be beneficial for our skin type. If you follow us on YouTube you know we always talk about how growing up in Wisconsin our skin was oily, emphasis on the oil. We always used to use foaming cleansers and scrubs and gravitated towards any makeup products that said “matte” or “lasts all day.” For some reason in the last couple of years, our skin has completely changed. This probably has a lot to do with getting older and the fact that we basically live in a desert (Los Angeles), but we now have combination/dry skin. Because of this, we’ve had to switch out a lot of products we were using and […]
