Nate Berkus Shares How His Entertaining Style Has Changed Since Welcoming Daughter Poppy

Nate Berkus Shares How His Entertaining Style Has Changed Since Welcoming Daughter Poppy

by Megan Stein @ PEOPLE.com

Nate Berkus is the expert on all things party planning. But since becoming a father to one-year-old daughter, Poppy, the designer’s go-to entertaining style has had a few changes.

“We entertain around her nap schedule now,” Berkus, artistic advisor for LG Studio, told PEOPLE at a breakfast on June 8, which celebrated the sleek line of high-end appliances he helped design.

But when Poppy isn’t snoozing, Berkus, 44, and husband Jeremiah Brent, 31, keep her busy with poolside play dates that are a far cry from a formal outdoor gathering.

“Our home is now filled with blow up toys from Target in the pool as opposed to margaritas,” Berkus said.

And the menu planning is even simpler.

“We throw food on the barbecue, we’ve actually even had a taco truck come once,” Berkus said. “We do put out snacks for the little ones, and they sit and throw them in the pool.”

Although the guest list has been tweaked to include Poppy’s younger crowd, the design-savvy couple couldn’t be happier with their new scene.

“It’s a welcome change,” Berkus said.

Griffith Park | The Trails Cafe

by Britta Garsow @ Twinspiration

If you live in Los Angeles chances are you’ve been to Griffith Park. And if you don’t live here you still might have heard about (basically) the only vast greenery in all of Los Angeles. Griffith Park was the backdrop for many famous films, our favorite being La La Land. Being from Wisconsin we miss the lush trees more than anything. There’s something about fresh air and walking through a forest that is so calming for us. Living in an industry driven city can get quite stifling so we’ve become very fond of Griffith Park. It’s the perfect place to go for a stroll and just exhale and distress. We’re lucky to live less than a mile from the park’s entrance, or one of them at least. This park is huge. It spans over 4,000 acres! Because of this, we try to go to the park at least once a month, but usually, it’s every two weeks. And being the food-driven people we are, we always make a stop at The Trails. Trails, as we like to call it, could very literally be my favorite restaurant. It’s a walk up window in the middle of the park that serves the most delicious […]

Although the primer custom isn’t popular among masses, if you haven’t been using it, it is like you have missed the last piece to the puzzle. The need and necessity of a primer remains questionable as some describe primers as a base or equal to foundation despite that not being the case.

Mimosa Floats

by Britta Garsow @ Twinspiration

Most millennials would agree that the best part about Sunday brunch is the unlimited mimosas. There’s just something about sipping the champagne mixture that steers the rest of the day in the right direction. But what if we could take mimosas to the next level? Insert, Mimosa floats. Fun fact: Cari and I were obsessed with orange sherbert as kids. I mean most kids love ice cream and don’t really have time for sherbert, but for some reason, it was always our first choice. So clearly sherbert is a nostalgic food for us, and when we came up with our Mimosa float idea we couldn’t wait to head to the store for some sherbert. Isn’t it so strange how many memories are tied to food? At least for us! I still remember what my childhood birthday cakes tasted like, and don’t get me started on Gushers (but like I sometimes still buy those). We were thrilled to find out that these Mimosa floats not only look nice, but they taste delicious! The sweetness of the sherbert helps cut through the champagne and creates a nice dessert-like drink. We think these floats would be perfect for a bridal shower or birthday party! What you’ll […]

REESE’S Waffles

by Britta Garsow @ Twinspiration

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #DelightfulMoments #CollectiveBias Out of all the classic candy bars, REESE’S Peanut Butter Cups are definitely our favorite. So when we heard International Delight was releasing a REESE’s Peanut Butter Cup Coffee Creamer we flipped. We couldn’t wait to go to Walmart, so we made the trek to Burbank to pick up some of the sought after creamer. They always have International Delight® Pumpkin Pie Spice creamer that is perfect for this time of year! We’re all about seasonal food items, especially those made for fall. We thought about recipes that would compliment the creamer for awhile but then we thought, why not go full on into the REESE’S theme? Everyone loves peanut butter & chocolate (unless of course, you have a nut allergy) so we thought these REESE’S waffles would be crowd pleasing. They may seem a bit over the top but it’s all about how you top them. You can easily just drizzle some peanut butter on one waffle for your afternoon snack. We should mention that these are definitely dessert waffles, as they are quite rich. However, we do think they taste a tad lighter […]

The Nine Lives of Cat Stevens: Yusuf Islam Embraces His Musical Past on The Laughing Apple

The Nine Lives of Cat Stevens: Yusuf Islam Embraces His Musical Past on The Laughing Apple

by Jordan Runtagh @ PEOPLE.com

It’s not quite fair to call The Laughing Apple a comeback album. Since 2006, the artist who beguiled listeners in the ’70s as the spiritually curious Cat Stevens has released three discs under the mononym Yusuf—short for Yusuf Islam, his chosen moniker after adopting the Islamic faith in 1977. These works were his first foray into Western music after shunning the industry in the wake of his religious conversion, during which time he sold his guitars and focused instead on charity work and theological study. Fans were grateful for any new output following the decades of silence, but Yusuf’s initial trio of albums were a cautious, occasionally frosty reconciliation with the superstar he never truly wanted to be. On The Laughing Apple, he fully embraces his musical legacy at last. For any who’ve longed for the preternaturally wise acoustic troubadour of yore, the music envelopes like a hug from a long-lost friend—one who’s been away for quite a long time and has a lot to share.

Tellingly, the album is credited to “Yusuf/Cat Stevens,” marking the first time his famous alter ego has appeared on a new release since 1978’s Back to Earth. Much like the hybrid billing, The Laughing Apple builds a bridge between the old and new. The majority of its 11 tracks are rerecorded songs from his initial musical incarnation as a teenage pop star in the mid-’60s, including four titles taken from his 1967 sophomore album, New Masters. While these early offerings suffered from overwrought orchestration, the new versions reveal the underlying melodic beauty with stripped down arrangements reminiscent of his best-known material. That’s no accident; The Laughing Apple reunites Yusuf with producer Paul Samwell-Smith and guitar foil Alun Davies, both of whom were regular collaborators during his ’70s heyday.

In a fitting nod to the 50th anniversary of his recording debut, he includes “Mighty Peace,” the first song he ever wrote. Few artists would dare put their very earliest compositions alongside their most recent, for fear of underscoring their crude creative beginnings. But Yusuf’s musical sophistication, to say nothing of his lyrical depth, has been present from the start. The song holds its own among contemporary tracks like “See What Love Did to Me,” and “Don’t Blame Them”—the latter of which urges listeners to exchange bigotry for empathy. It’s a potent message in a time of travel bans, increasingly violent protests, and rampant fear mongering.

Yusuf’s spiritual journey has made him a target of such blame. He converted to Islam on the eve of 1979’s Iranian Revolution, an event which transformed a matter of personal faith into an apparent political issue. Vaulted into the limelight as one of the most famous Muslims in the Western world, the singer/songwriter suddenly found himself as the unofficial spokesperson of a religion that most in his homeland knew nothing about. The role occasionally brought controversy, but over time Yusuf has evolved into one of the foremost ambassadors of peace on the planet. In addition to his philanthropy—including the founding of several dozen Muslim schools in the U.K.—the 69-year-old has returned to music to help spread his message.

Yusuf spoke with PEOPLE about his new album, peace efforts, how far he’s come and how far he has to go.

What was behind your decision to revisit some of your earlier songs?

I’ve got a bag full of songs I’ve been writing over the years—probably about 20 or 30—but when I started playing some of the early songs again with my guitar, I realized how badly they were recorded in the beginning. I thought I could right this wrong by going back in and recording them the way I feel it today. That, of course, brings a whole new life to the song. There were some gems in there, in my sixties albums, which I really had fun rerecording.

Has the meaning changed for you on any of these songs?

They’re still very relevant, like “Blackness of the Night.” You could have written that today about the refugee problem and about orphans left on the shores of a foreign country. They don’t quite know where they fit in and they’ve lost their homes and their families. That kind of song is still relevant. And then you’ve got “Northern Wind (Death of Billy the Kid),” which I think is very, very appropriate thinking about today. Even though it seems to be talking about the story of the gunslinger, it’s actually an anti-gun song. It’s the story of the sidekick who traveled with Billy the Kid and wanted to hang up his holster and go back home and live an ordinary life again without a threat of guns crowding his life. It’s quite an important song, I’d say.

When you first began writing songs, did you have a specific message you wanted to get across, or a goal in mind?

This album gives very good insight into my original goal because it actually contains the first song I ever wrote, called “Mighty Peace.” The seeds of my dreams began with the dream of peace. In this environment, everything is clashing. You have to survive and drown out the noise. So I think that song lays out my path very clearly. But also, because I grew up in the middle of the West End, which is Theater Land here in London, I was influenced by narratives and musicals. I used to go an awful lot. Hair was playing up the road from us and I saw it so many times. Then around the corner there was Drury Lane with My Fair Lady. West Side Story was perhaps one of the most powerful for me. So I pitched narratives into my songs. They have a kind of beginning, middle and end—it’s a three-act thing.

As far as your writing process, do you hear the song completed in your head in one piece, or do you workshop it through?

I don’t plan what the song is going to be, but I like it to somehow surprise me. If I’m surprised and excited, then I’ve got a feeling whoever hears the song will be excited like I am. I trick myself as I start writing by haphazardly trying something different along the way. It might be a rhythm, it might be a chord, it might be a word. When that happens I know I’ve hit it and I’ve got something special. A lot of what we’re hearing today is quite repetitious. Not all of it! Some of it is very original, and I’ve always looked out for the original.

On The Laughing Apple you began working with producer Paul Samwell-Smith for the first time in nearly 40 years. What was it like making music with him again?

It was great. He’s an artist in his own right. Obviously he’s got a great history with the beginning of British rock as the bassplayer in the Yardbirds. He’s got a great history himself, but as a producer he’s brilliant at understatement. The first time I understood that was when he played for me Van Morrison’s Astral Weeks and Joni Mitchell. That set the tone for what we wanted our records to sound like.

There was such a huge shift between your ’60s pop work like Matthew and Son and the sparse acoustic work to come in the early ’70s. Can you talk about that transition?

Initially, I was an artist who relied on other musicians to play my music because my producer set it up that way. That’s how it began and that’s how it continued for a long time until I finally got frustrated because I didn’t feel as though people were getting the songs as they should be getting them. And then came the opportunity when I got very sick. I was taken away and removed from the pop world and thrown in hospital. At that point, I had all the time in the world to gather my thoughts and find out what I was doing wrong. The main goal I set for myself was to take control of my own art and not to give it over to someone else to interpret. And that meant playing my own music—playing guitar, and learning to play almost every instrument that I wanted in order to capture the song that I heard in my head.

You mentioned “Mighty Peace,” one of your first songs, which is remarkable when you think how sophisticated the lyrics are. So many themes you’d touch on in your later work were already present this early. Who inspired you as a lyricist when you first started writing?

Dylan obviously had a big effect, but if you look at the blues—the blues are all rooted in real life stories. When you listen to the catalog from Lead Belly, it’s a whole genre and a narrative of what people were going through on the ground in the most terrible situations. So there’s a realism which I started to try to capture in my lyrics, which weren’t to do with completing a lyric for the sake of the song. The lyric had to make sense and the story had to be told.

Looking at this album , another song I really like is “Don’t Blame Them.” I borrowed the melody from Beethoven’s Piano Sonata. The theme of that song is extremely important because it deals with one of the great ailments, unfortunately, which has reared its head again: prejudice. It’s all to do with allowing others to think for you and not find the truth out for yourself.

You’re one of the foremost peace advocates in the world, but not everyone has the same audience and platform that you do. What do you believe to be the most important thing an individual can do to promote peace in this world in times like these?

I’ve thought about this, and you can consider the Peace Train as the symbol. We’d love to see a physical Peace Train arriving on our street and carrying us away into the land of happiness and peace and harmony, but that may not happen. One of the last tours I did was called Peace Train: Late Again. What I realized was that the Peace Train is a metaphor for one’s own life. We begin the journey with our parents and as we go along other people get on the train. We don’t quite know where we’re going to get off, but while we’re in this world, it’s our job to make our tracks as straight and as true as possible. I think even though the truth is hard sometimes, it’s a thing which will save you in the end.

Girl Scout Cookie Baking Mixes to Hit Stores Nationwide

Girl Scout Cookie Baking Mixes to Hit Stores Nationwide

Samoas in cupcake form was a thing we never knew we needed, but now it’s the only thing we can think about.

Pillsbury just unveiled Girl Scout Cookie baking mixes, which are available in Thin Mints and Caramel & Coconut – a.k.a. Samoas – flavors. The four new mixes are for baking cupcakes, brownies and blondies — unfortunately, you won’t be able to make actual Girl Scout Cookies, because that would put a lot of 7-year-olds out of business.

“Families can try out their favorite cookie flavors in the form of brownies, cupcakes, and blondies, while they wait for the real thing once a year during Girl Scout Cookie season,” said Girl Scouts of the USA chief revenue officer Barry Horowitz in a statement.

GSC loyalists are, to put it mildly, freaking out.

The mixes, now available nationwide, retail for $3.29 each — almost $2 less than what you’d pay for a box of cookies.

This $18 Popcorn Popper Will Make Your Movie Night

This $18 Popcorn Popper Will Make Your Movie Night

by Liz Steelman @ PEOPLE.com

This article originally appeared on Real Simple.

What would movie night be without a big bowl of popcorn? It should be a guilt-free choice, but once you add popping oil and butter, the calories can really start to add up. Thankfully, this $18 silicone bowl is your key to a quick and healthy movie night snack.

We first tried the Chef’n PopTop Microwave Popcorn Popper a couple of years ago while doing research for our weekly column, 6 Clever Items to Simplify Your Life. Since then, it’s become one of the most popular items we’ve ever featured. And for good reason: It makes snacking healthier so simple.

RELATED: 3 Quick Ideas for Popcorn

All you have to do is toss kernels (we recommend Tiny But Mighty’s heirloom ones) into the heat-resistant (and BPA-free) bowl. Then fold in the flaps at the top and stick it in the microwave. Stand back and watch the flaps unfold as the kernels burst. In a little over two minutes, you’ll have 10 cups of fluffy popcorn—with no burnt kernels! Pull it out of the microwave using the convenient tabs at the top. Silicone doesn’t conduct heat, so you don’t even need to wait for it to cool down.

Transfer your popped corn into another bowl or eat it right from the tub (Score! Less dishes!) If you still want to add some butter, oil, or other yummy toppings? Go right ahead. Clean up is just as easy—just toss the whole bowl in the dishwasher once you’ve snacked to your heart’s content.

It’s worth mentioning that sometimes a few rogue kernels escape out the top. Since they’re not cooked in oil, though, they’ll leave no greasy residue on the inside of your microwave. Just pick them up and throw them in the trash.

And, perhaps the ultimate bonus, this handy kitchen tool pays for itself in only a few uses. Kernels are much cheaper than microwave bags.

August 2017 Recap

Dare I say August was the most eventful month yet? Although we didn’t have any trips this month we had a lot of random (and fun) events. Every year we say we’re going to say “yes” to more social invites and we always fall short on this resolution. But this year I feel like we’ve made some serious strides. National Girlfriend’s Day Event We were invited to Williams Sonoma in Beverly Hills to watch the owner of Milk Jar Cookies, Courtney Cowan, demonstrate how to use their baking mixes. If you’ve been with us for awhile then you’re well aware how much we love Milk Jar. In fact, it was our first stop in our Sweet Eats series. So we were really excited to meet Courtney and try out the cookies! There was also champagne which was a nice touch 🙂 Sephora Community Party If you didn’t know Sephora recently launched their new community. They have a gallery where you can show off your looks and link to products, along with different groups where you can post questions and ask for advice. It’s actually a lot of fun! Barbara Corcoran on Her Handsy DWTS Debut: ‘If I Wanted to Grab Any Other Spot, I Would Certainly Have Better Aim'

by Maria Pasquini and Reagan Alexander @ PEOPLE.com

One of the most surprising moments from Monday’s Dancing With the Stars premiere was when Shark Tank star Barbara Corcoran grabbed onto her partner Keo Mostepe’s (very) upper thigh while she got her feedback from the judges.

But on Wednesday, Corcoran said that wasn’t what she meant to do — nor does she think it was really her fault.

“Of course, much ado about nothing,” Corcoran, 68, told PEOPLE at the Season 9 premiere event panel at the Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills. “If I wanted to grab any other spot, I would certainly have better aim.”

“No, I was reaching for Keo’s hand, actually groping for his hand, because I was scared to death about what the judges were going to say,” she continued. “It was just poorly filmed.”

Unfortunately for Corcoran, she had a reason to be scared.

She and Mostepe got kicked off the season 25 of DWTS by receiving the lowest score of the night: a 14.

“Yeah, did you notice how I scored well?” Corcoran joked.

Asked whether her Shark Tank costars Mark Cuban and Robert Herjavec, who had both appeared on DWTS in the pastgave her any advice, Corcoran said, “of course.”

“Well, Robert said, ‘Make sure you pick out a good dance partner, because chances are you will marry them,’ ” Corcoran said. “And that is exactly what my intention is, although I am married, but I will cover that detail soon.”

Herjavec, 55, appeared on season 20 of DWTS and went on to marry his partner Kym Johnson in 2016.

PEOPLE’s special issue 25 Seasons of ‘Dancing with the Stars’ is on stands now.

But on a serious note, Corcoran added that “the advice I got from Mark was that was the hardest thing he had ever done in his life.”

Funnily enough, Cuban, 59, who appeared on season 5 of DWTS, also had Johnson, 39, as a partner.

“There is something about Mark that makes you think that nothing is hard for him, he seems to breeze through everything, and I should have believed him and not said ‘yes,’ because this is the hardest thing I have ever done in my life,” she continued. “This is really a confidence crisis for me.”

“I am shocked at how weak I am,” she added. “I thought I was very good at pressure, but I’m not very good.”

Dancing with the Stars airs Mondays (8 p.m. ET) on ABC.

Colourpop New Releases Review

by Carli Garsow @ Twinspiration

Anyone a big Colourpop fan?! We love the brand. If you’re not familiar, Colourpop is a really affordable brand that makes great quality, trend-based products. Because they are trend based, they tend to release products very frequently (I’m talking new products every two weeks or so). They are truly a unique brand that we’ve actually been using since their start three years ago! We first found the brand after hearing amazing reviews about their Lippie Stix and now we love most of their products. Check out our favorite Colourpop lipsticks post if you want to learn more about the lip category but today, we’re talking new releases. The brand just introduced some brand new products: concealers, pressed powder bronzers, pressed powder highlighters and brushes. We were most excited to try the concealers because we’re big into complexion products and they’re only $6 each!! Such an amazing price. We also picked up the pressed powder products, a newly reformulated Ultra Matte Lip and one of their new brushes. To hear our thoughts on all the new products, watch down below!

Favorite Everyday Jewelry

by Carli Garsow @ Twinspiration

Today we’re doing something different on the blog, talking about jewelry! From the lack of jewelry/accessories talk on this blog, you’ve probably gathered that Britta and I aren’t big jewelry wearers. We don’t often go out and buy it, the jewelry pieces have to be pretty special for us to add it to our small, curated collection. The pieces we do have are on a heavy rotation so we thought we’d share with you what we love and wear most often! BaubleBar Sophia Layered Choker This necklace belongs to Britta and she wears it nearly every single day. Before she got this necklace, she stuck to rings on a daily basis (similar to what I do). The beauty of this necklace is that it goes with everything. Both the color and the style can be worn with nearly every cut and shade of clothing. It’s basic in the least basic way if that makes sense.  It’s very similar to my go-to necklace that is also from BaubleBar that I’ll talk about next. This was our first time trying out BaubleBar and the quality is amazing for the price. Highly recommend! BaubleBar Gwyn Layered Choker My BaubleBar necklace is similar to Britta’s, […]

Chip and Joanna Gaines Share Their Hilarious First Date Story

Chip and Joanna Gaines Share Their Hilarious First Date Story

by Megan Stein @ PEOPLE.com

Chip and Joanna Gaines are the definition of marriage goals, but their relationship didn’t necessarily have a fairytale start.

In the first chapter of The Magnolia Storyreleased as a sneak peek today, the Fixer Upper dream team spills the details of how they met — and it wasn’t exactly love at first sight.

Joanna agreed to go out on a date with Chip after meeting him and his roommate “Hot John” — who she actually tried to approach minutes earlier, but was too shy — in the waiting room of her dad’s auto shop. She had second thoughts, however, after Chip arrived an hour and a half late to pick her up.

“He didn’t apologize for being late, either. He had so much confidence. I don’t know. I can’t explain it. Only Chip could be an hour and a half late and have no one mad about it,” Joanna writes.

The chapter continues to describe the timeline of their relationship, which didn’t actually start until months after they first went out, when Chip (in typical guy fashion) finally called Joanna back.

“I’d made a bet with Hot John to see who could hold out the longest before calling our dates back,” Chip writes “I really wanted that fifty dollars from John! That’s the only reason I didn’t call.”

After they went out a second time, the rest was history.

9 best skincare products for teens

The Independent

With so many other changes taking place during puberty, good skincare can, unfortunately, often end up taking a backseat.  However, whether you’re struggling with acne, irked by the occasional blemish, or are prone to dry skin, taking some time to be kind to your skin is essential, especially as a good routine is crucial to set you up for the rest of your life – you’ll thank yourself later.

Gravitating Towards Gray

by Britta Garsow @ Twinspiration

There is definitely no shortage of neutral tones on this blog. Carli and I both like to stick to wearing black, black, and more black with some gray and white mixed in. During the summer time we definitely try to wear some fun floral patterns to mix things up, but now that fall is almost here (yay!!) we’re back to our usual palette. One of my favorite things about the color gray is that it contains so many different shades, tones, and often textures. I have so many chunky gray sweaters it’s actually ridiculous. But for this outfit, I decided to mix a deep gray bodysuit with a light gray moto jacket. The bodysuit has some ribbing which adds a nice contrast against the faux velvet jacket. I love playing with different textures! I feel like it adds depth and luxury to any outfit. Also, speaking of bodysuits. They’re my new favorite thing. I was always scared of wearing them because I assumed they were extremely uncomfortable and unforgiving. But since basically, all my pants (and bottoms for that matter) are high waisted I decided to give them a shot, since they’re so trendy. And I’m so glad I did! […]

Easy Transition To Fall Style

by Carli Garsow @ Twinspiration

Fall is just a few days away and I can’t wait! But regardless, Britta and I are embracing our favorite season with open arms and we’re eager to transition our wardrobes from summer to fall. My favorite seasonal fashion change is going from open to closed toes shoes. I don’t know why I prefer closed toed shoes but I just feel more comfortable in them. Booths, sneakers, mules, slides, I love them all. We’ve already talked about how obsessed we are with this look-alike Gucci loafers from Target so I won’t go on about those. I recently picked up another pair of Topshop Jamie Jeans from Nordstrom and I truly love how they pair with these shoes. 10 Best Blackhead Peel Off Masks for Acne Prone Skin [Top Picks for 2017]

by Sheikh @ CAA

Blackheads are a plight and a heart sinker for anyone who has had then over the course of their lives. Blackheads not only look bad, they are also a signal of lowered skin health.

They are caused when your pores get clogged with excess oil. When this buildup of sebum rises to the skin surface and gets oxidized with air, it gets a black appearance. Thus, a blackhead is formed.

We understand how big a menace these little devils are and have compiled a list of the 10 best blackhead peel off masks so you can start right now at relieving yourselves from their misery.

elf Holy Smokes Palette Review

by Britta Garsow @ Twinspiration

We love finding good drugstore eyeshadow palettes, but it is no easy task. More often than not they just feel chalky and look patchy on the skin. A few solid options that come to find are the Milani Palettes or the CoverGirl TruNaked palettes. Those are all excellent options if you’re looking to save some money. As are the elf Mad for Matte palettes. The first one garnished a cult following of sorts and Carli and I never fully jumped on the bandwagon. The quality of the shadows is good but the palette itself is a little boring in our opinion. Then elf released the Mad for Matte 2 palette filled with beautiful warm tones. We love this one! But we were the MOST excited for their newly released Holy Smokes palette. It’s filled with amazing jewel tones! Watch our review of all three below, and we’re showing you swatches of all three! xx, Britta

Chrissy Teigen Successfully Crowd-Sourced 6 Brown Bananas from Twitter—and Sent Her Mom to Pick Them Up

Chrissy Teigen Successfully Crowd-Sourced 6 Brown Bananas from Twitter—and Sent Her Mom to Pick Them Up

by Maria Pasquini @ PEOPLE.com

Chrissy Teigen loves to make jokes, but she wasn’t joking on Thursday when she asked Twitter to help her find six brown bananas to make banana bread with.

It all started on Sunday when Teigen, 31, tweeted about needing some bananas. “If I bring 4 perfect bananas to the thai temple today can I take 4 brown bananas from the mini Buddah house offerings?” she wrote. “Making banana bread”

But instead of answering her question, people kept giving Teigen their tricks for how to make bananas ripen faster, and just before 2 pm on Thursday, the cookbook author had had enough. “ok this banana thing is getting ridiculous,” she said.

“Don’t tell me your banana browning hacks. Just…if u have 6 BROWN bananas in the LA area lmk,” she continued.

Shortly following her first tweet, Teigen doubled down on her promise, throwing in a couple of added incentives for people to help her out.

“If u have 6 BROWN bananas in the LA area, I will send my assistant to your home with a signed cookbook, John’s underwear and a Becca palette.”

“SERIOUS INQUIRIES ONLY,” Teigen added. “Please send me a photo of u holding the bananas, giving the peace sign.”

And sure enough, the offers started rolling in.

“Ok and @onairjake has 2,” Teigen wrote alongside a photo of somebody holding 3 browned bananas giving the peace sign. “WE NEED ONE MORE! Or, a single person with 6. This is gonna be a long day.”

RELATED: Chrissy Teigen Had the Perfect Response to a Woman Who Dissed Cookbooks

“SO CLOSE,” Teigen commented in reference to somebody who only had five bananas. “ might kill me if she has to drive to multiple homes across LA.”

But then, Teigen got hit with an offer she couldn’t refuse.

Meg Zukin, the same person who only had five bananas, said she’d be willing to meet Teigen’s assistant and proceeded to tell Teigen where she lived, just in case that was helpful. Teigen replied, noting that her assistant (later revealed to be her mom Vilailuck) and this good Samaritan lived close to each other. “Ok I think 5 will do. Thank you so much she will DM you now!!!” she said.

Meeting up with a stranger has its risks of course, so “just for safety” Vilailuck requested that Zukin “taste a small piece of the banana in front of her before making the trade.”

And then Teigen announced that this whole banana ordeal was over. “The deal has been done,” she wrote alongside a picture of the banana handoff. “Thank you, @bymeg!!!!”

Four minutes later, Teigen posted a picture of her mother carrying the bananas and throwing up a peace sign. “Already home,” Teigen wrote alongside the photo. “That was…so fast. I will now do all grocery shopping like this.”

And Zukin was thrilled with the results of the trade — though she was unsure what to do with Legend’s boxer-briefs.

We may never know whether or not Teigen was serious about crowd-sourcing her bananas from Twitter when she first tweeted about needing them on Thursday, but that doesn’t matter. She got the bananas she was looking for, and it only took her a little over an hour and a half to do it.

For those who offered up their brown bananas but missed out on the opportunity to snag a pair of her husband’s underwear, don’t sweat it. Teigen promises she will “send the runner ups some banana bread once done.”

IKEA Hack: Makeup Storage Chest

by Britta Garsow @ Twinspiration

As much as we love makeup and skincare, DIY posts will always hold a special place in our heart. When we first started blogging we got the most excited about thinking of new DIY projects we could share with all of you. As Pinterest gained popularity it became increasingly harder to come up with new and creative projects. Because of this we often gravitate towards IKEA Hacks. To this day our Gold & Marble Bar Cart hack is still our most popular post, and for good reason! We love finding an inexpensive piece, that’s actually accessible, and turning it into something chicer and custom. For this post, we decided to combine our love of DIY projects and makeup. You’ll often find us rummaging through Pinterest searching for new and inventive ways to store our makeup. Of course we have our ALEX Drawers but organizing our everyday projects takes more thought. Awhile ago we did a Makeup Organization Hacks video on YouTube. And while we still love these ideas, our collection has gotten so out of control that we knew we needed something more substantial. Insert: The IKEA MOPPE Mini Storage Chest. This small (but mighty) chest is only $17.00 and can […]

GRWM: Baked Browns Palette Tutorial

by Britta Garsow @ Twinspiration

I used to absolutely love shimmer eyeshadows and therefore used them often (read: every day). But as I’ve gotten older and more into makeup I truly appreciate good matte eyeshadows and I often do all matte eyeshadow looks more often than not. So obviously that means I gravitate towards all matte palettes and when I saw the Dose of Colors Baked Browns Palette I knew it had to be mine. Not to mention it’s talc free and since I’ve developed my talc allergy I’ve been using this non-stop! It’s full of bold, warm brown tones that look amazing on any skin tone and with any eye color. These shadows are so pigmented and blend like a dream. I honestly can’t wait for them to release more palettes! This tutorial is on my go-to eye look. Not specifically an “every day” look since to me it’s a bit smokey and dramatic. But it’s the look I always create for date night or just anytime I go out really. I hope you enjoy it! xx, Britta

10 Best Beauty Oils

by Britta Garsow @ Twinspiration

It’s no secret how much we love makeup but you probably didn’t know that we love skin care JUST AS MUCH. So basically we have a full blown obsession with Sephora, but who doesn’t? We still remember the first skincare product our mom ever bought us, the Olay Beauty Fluid. Even as young girls we enjoyed our simple skincare routine and taking care of our skin. But it wasn’t until we actually saw signs of aging that we really dove into learning about active ingredients and which ones would be beneficial for our skin type. If you follow us on YouTube you know we always talk about how growing up in Wisconsin our skin was oily, emphasis on the oil. We always used to use foaming cleansers and scrubs and gravitated towards any makeup products that said “matte” or “lasts all day.” For some reason in the last couple of years, our skin has completely changed. This probably has a lot to do with getting older and the fact that we basically live in a desert (Los Angeles), but we now have combination/dry skin. Because of this, we’ve had to switch out a lot of products we were using and […]

Lisa Rinna Shares Sweet Throwback Photo from Her Wedding Day 20 Years Ago — See the Pic!

by Natalie Stone @ PEOPLE.com

Lisa Rinna is looking back on one of the best moments of her life — her wedding day!

In honor of #ThrowbackThursday, Rinna posted a photo of herself and husband Harry Hamlin from the day they tied the knot 20 years ago.

“#tbt Wedding Day ❤️ 1997,” the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star captioned the black-and-white smiling image.

Rinna, 54, and Hamlin, 65, wed in 1997 and welcomed two daughters over the course of their marriage: Amelia Gray Hamlin, 16, and Delilah Belle Hamlin, 19.

In a candid 2013 interview with fellow Housewife Bethenny Frankel, Rinna admitted that the pair’s marriage has had its share of ups and downs.

“Harry had some rough years of not working as an actor, which is his true love. And as you all know, if your man’s not doing what he loves to do, that’s hard,” Rinna said of her husband, who received an Emmy nomination in 2013 for his guest role on Mad Men.

“It was so exciting to be standing next to him and him getting all these accolades,” she said of supporting her husband at the Emmy Awards. “It brings tears to my eyes because we’ve had some rough times — financially and emotionally. It was such a proud moment. It gets me.”

Speaking with Bravo’s Andy Cohen months later, the couple sat down for an episode of Watch What Happens Live, where they shared how they keep their love alive.

“We listen to each other,” Hamlin said before Rinna quipped, “No, I give you good blow jobs.”

New Essence Cosmetics Releases

by Britta Garsow @ Twinspiration

We love drugstore makeup and often gravitate towards it. It’s amazing to find high-quality items at a low cost. And makeup shouldn’t be expensive! Essence Cosmetics is one of those brands that we know we can depend on. You guys already know how much we love their Pure Nude Highlighter (holy grail status!). So we’re so thrilled to be partnering with Essence to show you their new releases for summer! Let’s get to the reviews! Essence Volume Stylist 18H Lash Extention Mascara | $4.99 We were honestly shocked at how much we liked this one. We don’t usually like “extension” or fiber mascaras because the fibers cause fallout and often irritate our sensitive eyes. This did nonw of that! It really provides a lot of length AND volume without the lashes clumping together. The brush is nice and curved which makes for an easier application. Essence Volume Stylist 18H Curl & Hold Mascara | $4.99 We always look for volume over length when it comes to mascara but that can be tricky since a lot of volumizing mascaras tend to make the lashes clump together. While this one did cause a bit of clumping it looks more natural on the […]

Texas Couple Allegedly Locked 7-Year-Old Boy Out of The House Because They Thought He Was Possessed by Demons

Texas Couple Allegedly Locked 7-Year-Old Boy Out of The House Because They Thought He Was Possessed by Demons

by Chris Harris @ PEOPLE.com

A Texas couple allegedly locked a 7-year-old boy out of their home and told him never to return because they believed he was posessed by demons, prompting the filing of child endangerment charges against both, according to multiple reports.

According to the Texarkana Gazette, police allege that on Aug. 26, 56-year-old Ronald Wright and his 39-year-old wife, Rendy Wright, forced her young son out of their home. The child was allegedly told by his mother and stepfather that he was being kicked out of the house for misbehaving.

Authorities were dispatched to the Wrights’ home in Hooks, Texas, after receiving a 911 call from a neighbor, who told deputies the boy told him he was not allowed to go home, the paper reports.

• Want to keep up with the latest crime coverage? Click here to get breaking crime news, ongoing trial coverage and details of intriguing unsolved cases in the True Crime Newsletter.

The neighbor told police the boy had spent the majority of the day at his home, playing with his son. That evening, when he told the boy it was time to go, the boy agreed to leave but returned 10 minutes later.

The boy allegedly told the neighbor his mother had locked him out of the house, reports KTBS.

The neighbor drove the boy home, and dropped him off after seeing Keith Wright outside, mowing his lawn. Ten minutes later, the boy was allegedly back at the neighbor’s home, crying, according to the station.

The child, court papers allege, said that “Keith Wright told him to go away and never return home again, ever. He said that his mother locked him out of the house and told him the same.”

Police went to speak with Keith Wright, who allegedly confirmed the boy had been banished.

• PEOPLE’s special edition True Crime Stories: 35 Real Cases That Inspired the Show Law & Order is on sale now.

When asked why, Wright allegedly told investigators the child “would not mind or do what he was told and he was tired of it,” and the boy’s mother backed up Wright’s statement, according to EastTexasRadio.com.

Both Wrights allegedly told police they had consulted a preacher about the child’s behavior, and were told he is possessed by demons.

Police allege the couple confessed to casually using methamphetamine.

The husband and wife are charged with abandoning or endangering a child, and are free on bonds of $35,000, according to court records.

Calls to the home were not returned Thursday, and it was unclear if either defendant had hired an attorney.

WATCH: Little Big Town, Kacey Musgraves and Midland Announce Tour with a Musical Medley

by Maria Pasquini @ PEOPLE.com

Hold on to your cowboy hats because your favorite country musicians are all going on tour together!

On Wednesday, Little Big Town, Kacey Musgraves and Texas trio Midland announced they were all going on tour together — and to celebrate, they made a pit stop by The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to perform a medley of some of their biggest hits.

Midland started things off with their debut single “Drinkin’ Problem” before the camera panned to Musgraves, 29, who followed Midland’s lead and performed her debut single too: 2013’s “Merry Go Round.”

Then Little Big Town added themselves to the mix, leading the whole group in a spirited rendition of ELO’s 1979 hit “Don’t Bring Me Down.”

Last week, Little Big Town unveiled their star on the Music City Walk of Fame in Nashville. The group was inducted by Keith Urban, the man who jump-started LBT’s career when he invited the then-unknowns to open his tour 11 years earlier.

RELATED VIDEO: Find Out Why Little Big Town Loves Taylor Swift

Urban called the group “the closest thing to a family band that are not related that you’ll ever meet. It’s that sound that’s not connected by blood or last name – well, in the case of Jimi and Karen, now it is – but there is no connection except the spirit. That’s what I feel when I hear Little Big Town.”

“That’s what makes them family,” he added. “That’s what makes them connected. It’s what makes somebody like me feel their music immediately when they sing to me.”

The Breakers Tour — named after the 2017 Little Big Town album The Breaker— kicks off in Spring 2018, but tickets go on sale everywhere Friday, Sept. 22.
